Del Shannon is one of my all-time favorite musicians. He's most famous for his hits "Runaway" and "Hats Off to Larry." My friend Ben Burroughs and I were planning on making a split album of Del covers, but both of us kind of got dispirited with our covers and it never came to be. I had two recorded and figured I may as well release them.
Del committed suicide in 1990, at the age of 55, putting a bullet in his brain with a .22 rifle, in the garden behind his house. His music is haunting and beautiful, and I hold him in high regard and consider him one of my biggest influences. If you like these songs, please seek out his work. You will not be disappointed.
Due to Del's work kind of being forgotten about by the general public, it's very hard to find information about who exactly wrote some of his songs. He wrote a good majority of them. I am positive he wrote "Hats Off to Larry" but am not sure about "The House Where Nobody Lives." If I have mistakenly put the wrong information up, I apologize and mean no infringement or offense, but for these to be my tribute to Del, wherever he is.
